Freeport as you all knew it is no more. 2 weeks ago hurricane Francis blasted the island for 47 hours. Queens Cove is no more and the insurance compamies will not reinsure to build there. The airport was destroyed but is now open to small aircraft. The tide surge from the north reached the postoffice with most of the small business's put out of operation. The back side of the storm which is supposed to be the weaker sat on top of freeoprt for 30 hours and did incredible damage. The West End is destroyed 95%of homes gone.Water was restored in 2 days but power and phones are still 2 weeks away. Have been cooking on dried wood pits.Looting is the new business. The Towers lost the roof the 9th and 10th floors plus the lobby imploded.Country club lost 6 of 8 roofs so the resort is closed until Feb next year. Regards to all Walter Kells

I lost my Mum a few months to cancer and Just read on your site that has passed away. Want to send my condolences to his family and friends. I did not know haydn that well but it appeared he lived life to the full. A sad loss at such an early age. Andrew Mawdesley

David and myself traveled to Freeport for a couple of days , nothing much seems to have changed there except for a bloody great lake that has appeared in the road opposite the casino . Most of the old crowd have left , we did catch up with Barrie Hackman who, sadly, is confined to a wheelchair now . I look forward to seeing you all again next time I come to Florida.
